I recently purchased a Rally Tops 2-piece hard top on Facebook marketplace a few weeks ago and while sharing photos of it on Instagram I had many people asking for my opinion on it, so here we go. I hope this piece is found to be informative to anyone considering an alternative to the factory hard top or soft top.
I originally purchased my wrangler a little over a year ago with the factory OEM hard top and there was nothing wrong with it besides some damage to the fiberglass on the rear. But it works just as you’d expect a factory hard top to work. The biggest complaint I had about my Jeep is the ease of access of grabbing thing out of the back, sometimes I wished there was a rear sliding window or a pop out window. This would allow you to grab things out of the back with ease. Overall, this is a small problem that didn’t trouble me too much to want to actively search alternative tops, it was more of a thought in the back of my head.
The Rally Tops 2-piece hard top came up on Facebook Marketplace for a deal I couldn’t refuse, so I dropped my hardtop at a friends garage and headed up to Wyoming topless in the 25 degree weather. I have to say the drive sucked but was worth it.
The 2-piece hard top has several features that stood out to me, the biggest being the sliding windows which will make life so much easier. Another being the carpet lined interior, it reduces road noise considerably and has improved highway driving, you can actually hear yourself think The last noteworthy feature is the removable section top. It isn’t a feature that I would have wanted for a hard top but it is nice to have for the summer. It only takes a few minutes to take off and fits perfectly in the back of the Jeep.
One thing that is different from this top to the OEM top is the ability to adjust it. During the first snow storm in Denver it leaked everywhere. After a good adjustment there are no more leaks, that is something I am extremely grateful for. There is some wind noise, but I will figure out how to seal the top in a more efficient manner.
Overall, I love this top and even though it has a few quirks, which is to be expected from a hard top that I bought used, I am so glad I got rid of my OEM top and have this amazing new top. Rally Tops seems to have built a great product and I couldn’t recommend them enough. Another great feature about them is that they make tops for all types of Jeeps as well as Suzukis and Kia.
